Wolf Creek 2025 Recap: OKC Ski Club’s Ski Season Favorite

Wolf Creek 2025 , 1/17 – 1/21

Our 2025 Wolf Creek ski trip (Jan 17–21) proved once again why this destination is one of the best group ski trips of the season.

It started with a little classic OKC-style chaos: the airport parking lot didn’t have us on the list and wouldn’t let our bus in. But, true to form, we sorted it out quickly — and still managed to leave a few minutes early. With plenty of room to spread out, we rolled west on I-40 and rolled into McDonald’s at a glorious 4:00 AM. Roads were clear, spirits were high.

Once we reached Wolf Creek, Orla had our rooms ready, complete with what many described as the best showers of their lives. Seriously — elite water pressure. After a quick refresh, it was go time: three full days of skiing with over 118 inches of snow already on the ground. The powder wasn’t as deep as some years, but the conditions still delivered.

🎿 Slopes, Springs & Social Nights

The skiing was cold but beautiful, with a mix of sunny and snowy days that kept the mountain interesting. Paul Woodson rejoined us for the first time in a while, and Melissa Markel returned for her third trip. Evenings brought the kind of connections our ski club is known for — whether soaking in the hot springs, grabbing drinks at the Neon Mallard, or catching up over a meal in town.

As usual, we had a great group of drive-up members who joined the fun each day, and Ryan Breding brought his signature brand of après-ski mischief. On Sunday, our club ski race was a blast — congrats to Sheila Robson and Randy Carter for snagging first-place medals!

Later that evening, Jacob Rupp and Katelynn Castleman rallied the crew at Kip’s Grill, where we were served the largest plate of nachos any of us had ever seen. Bonus points to Gary Jones, who brought his puppy to our wine & cheese night at the lodge — instant VIP.

🚌 Ending on a Classic OKC Note

Returning to OKC was no less memorable: snow and cold temps jammed the parking lot gate. But thanks to a helpful local with a utility vehicle, we made it through. Just another story to add to the books.
